Thunderball Tribute Art

Finally got around to paint my tribute to Robert McGinnis Thunderball artworks. Gouache on artboard, 80 x 60 cm. My camera does not capture the detail well, scanned version below.

Great work on capturing that McGinnis style brush work. I've tried to do something similar myself digitally and it is not easy. Were you using gouache for this?

Yes, I read somewhere that McGinnis was using gouache so I'm trying the same. Takes a lot of effort to get it right, especially if the eyes you are painting are the size of a pin head ;-)

You should design the new poster, it's so much nicer painted than the latest photo ones.....

Great tribute to the McGinnis style. Looking at the ladies, I have to say that blue is my favorite color!

Wow! Excellent painting! I'm a huge fan of McGinnis and I think you have captured that look of the great 60's illustration style of both Robert and others of the time. Can't wait to see what your next painting will look like they can only get better and better!
