It's possible the transfer was bad and there was no other choice than to repaint. Working in Advertising in that time, I had similar challenges. (It was to time consuming waiting for a new one to arrive. This was before the internet.)
I disagree. In the original Moore is looking up at the girl & in the new version he is looking forward. This could be that the direction he was looking in offended some people & it was changed! In some countries the girl offended people so a pair of shorts was added to the poster!
I'm more offended they've painted his hair parted on his right rather than his left. That has always bugged me about those ruddy awful DVD covers they continue to sneeze out, mirroring faces thinking we won't notice rather than mirroring the rest of the image.
tkThe reversed representation of Sir Roger Moore's head with black hair on the German movie poster of "FOR YOUR EYES ONLY" in 1981 remains one of an absurd mystery in the franchise.I don't know how this awful painting could go through - may be the German rental company thought that the Bond actor looked in the original painting and in the movie too old and was therefore visually painted to look jounger.Another possible explanation may be the fact that the actor holds eye contact with the viewer on the amanded drawing instead of viewing to Melina Have(a)look on the original Brian Bysouth drawing.
In the German movie poster Roger Moore seems more like he appears in Moonraker...
look like from an Moonraker PR photo with orange backround and I remember one of this photos was taken from Moonraker campaign for the FYEO advance poster http://image.wikifoundry.com/image/1/ZfkSVf7vwqMzvUOHOhXCPA18782/GW318H400
