Unused Thunderball artwork by Robert McGinnis. The original (above) was supposedly done for Playboy magazine but never used to my knowledge. This is a restored version using the print from Thomas' Hollywood Collectionand his book "Licence To Thrill".
The artwork was toned down (bottom right) and used in a Italian poster version, re-painted by Averardo Ciriello (bottom left 1) and for the production letterhead of United Artists US (bottom left 2).
More comic book covers from Zig Zag, all published in 1969. It's interesting how the artists re-used existing artwork, for example the Dr No artwork by Mitchell Hooks for the comic adaptation of Casino Royale.
Cover artwork for the paperback editions of "Casino Royale" by Pan Publishers, G198, 8th printing 1961 (l) and X232, 13th printing 1963 (r).Does anyone know who the artist is?
Long before the whole Craig / blond hair discussion, Pan released Casino Royale as the first paperback edition in 1955 with a blond haired Bond on the cover. Artwork by Roger Hall.
Zig Zag James Bond comic book covers from 1969. The comics were sold in Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. The likeness to Connery could be described as "interesting".
I prefer painted movie posters to photo ones. Sadly the painted poster is a dying breed. I’ve always wondered what a painted poster of the newer Bond movies would look like. Here is a draft for a Pierce Brosnan poster. It’s part of a bigger project to come.
Illustration of Ian Fleming by Sheilagh Noble featured in a hardback / bookclub-style edition of "From Russia With Love" published by Heron Books, Geneva 1981. Thanks to Dan for sharing this!.
Just received another beautiful print from the Hollywood Edition: It's a Thunderball style artwork by Robert McGinnis, nicely printed, numbered and signed with certificate. I love to own an original by McGinnis but at least I got a signed one. Have a look here for more prints .
