Reconstruction of Frank McCarthy's artwork for the Thunderball "Look Down / Underwater Battle" illustration. It's based on the album cover of the stero version of the soundtrack. The lower / seafloor part is taken from the cover of the mono relelase of the soundtrack. Divers on the left are taken from the German "Look up/down" poster. Not a lot of artwork but this poster shows more than the US one sheet. The harpoon top is taken from the US 24 sheet as it's not visible in all other posters.
"From Russia With Love" unused art, 1963.
"Property Of A Lady", short story by Ian Fleming, published in Playboy magazine in January 1964.
My favourite James Bond marketing campaign is still Thunderball – illustrated by Frank McCarthy and Robert E. McGinnis. Here a little overview of who did what:
Frank McCarthy:
1) "Look Down / Underwater Battle" 2) "Look Up" variation / 50 anniversary 3) "LookUp / Jetpack"
Robert E. McGinnis:
4) "Massage Table"
5) "Classic Bond Pose"
6) "Look Out / 007 & Girls"
7) "Bond & Domino" 8) "Beach Scene"
Big thanks to Thomas Nixdorf from the Robert McGinnis Hollywood Edition for his help.
