Marketing Guides: Thunderball and You Only Live Twice

Last December I compiled a marketing guide for "Thunderball" as a Christmas gift for my close collector friends. Things got a bit out of hand and I ended up with 118 pages to cover every country and item that I knew off. And now the Corona lockdown gave me the time to create the same for “You Only Live Twice”. Both are non-commercial projects for fun.

Dutch Goldfinger Lobby Card

I recently found this Dutch "Goldfinger" Lobby card on eBay. It almost looks like the German lobby card except the tag line and an embossed stamp on the card. 

So far I have found 4 cards which makes me wonder if there is a full set...

OHMSS Photobusta Set

Until recently I thought that the Italian set of lobby cards / photobustas for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" contained 6. But then I found the Italian pressbook  which listed 10. the initial 6 are easy to find but the full set is rare.

Mystery Dr. No Lobby Card - Help, please

Help, please: I found this image a while ago and I'm not sure what it is. It looks like a French "Dr No" lobby card but does not resemble any French or Swiss lobby cards that I know (see below). 

Does anyone know where this is from? Thank you.

From Russia With Love Lobby Cards from France

French Lobby Cards for"Bons Baisers De Russie" (From Russia With Love). The French pressbook claims that there are 30 b/w lobby cards. So far I have found 21. Also there is one that exists in landscape and portrait format. A bit odd. Can one of my readers shed light on this?

US Lobby Cards for From Russia With Love

"From Russia With Love" lobby cards were printed in black and white and then tinted to give it a red tinge. Various reasons for this have been offered but the most oft recurring one was that those responsible for the marketing wanted to push the political “red-ness” of the film. This would appear to be a credible reason as both the US 1 Sheet posters for the film also followed the black, white and red colour scheme. While the lobby images are generous in size, it nonetheless remains the least obviously glamorous of the series.

However, perhaps due to what may later be seen as various printers sharing the duties to produce the marketing material, there are in fact two slightly differing sets of FRWL cards. The sets differ both by the tint and a slight juxtaposition of card numbering of the first five cards. One set is purple-tinted and the other set is rose-tinted. Again, only the first five cards are numbered differently -- cards #6, #7 and #8 feature the same photos in both sets. For example, Bond in bed was printed as Nos. 3 and 4, the Helicopter chase was printed as Nos. 2 and 3.

US Lobby Card Update

Update for the US "Diamonds Are Forever" Lobby Cards: There are 3 different variations of the cards which differ in the producers credit and the white strip at the bottom. I've read somewhere that the cards were re-released in the 80s but I have no idea which is which.

There are 2 different sets, it appears that one is for the US market with NSS text and Broccoli mentioned in the producers credit first while the other set mentions Saltzman first.

Mini Lobby Card set of 8 which also exits in 2 variations.

Reissue set of 5 cards (?) for the 1984 MGM re-release.

Swiss Diamonds Are Forever Lobby Cards

Lobby cards for "Diamonds Are Forever" from Switzerland. Not sure if this is the complete set or not. Style-wise these are quite different from the normal lobby cards as it appears that they are the regular press stills from the movie.
